Safari Tour Details
Day 1
Windhoek – Sesriem (350 km) (L,D) (Camping)
You will be collected between 07:00 & 08:00
We travel over the Auas Mountains along scenic roads were we will pass small communal lands and a beautiful geological route on our way south-west to the desert.
Going through the Gamsberg Mountain Range, we reach open plains and not for long before we stop at the tiny town of Solitaire. We will stop here for some refreshments before continuing on through desert scenery. We cross some open grass savannahs before the terrain begins to give way to the immense red sand dune desert of the Namib. We aim to arrive at our camp during the late afternoon and watch the colours glow and change on distant mountains to the east. Tonight your guide will prepare dinner on a open fire under the beautiful desert sky of Namibia
Day 2
Sesriem – Agama (220km) (B,L,D) (Camping)
A pre dawn start is essential this morning as we want to catch the soft morning light of the sunrise on the dunes as we drive. The light casts strong contrasts of colour on the edges of the dunes and offers stunning views from the dry river bed you travel through. Our first stop will be at the famous Dune 45, Africa's most photogenic dune. Here you will make your way up on the dune to catch the amazing unforgettable sunrise. Your guide will prepare your breakfast right at the foot of the dune. Not long after breakfast, we leave the vehicle for a educational walk.
We reach Sossusvlei itself by walking the last 5 km through the dunes. The walk is like nothing else, enjoying the changing light and coolness of the morning. Ancient mineral pans, stunted camel thorn trees and the chance of seeing a gemsbok or maybe an ostrich make the photo opportunities perfect.
We spend the morning in and around Sossusvlei, and as the day wears on we return to Sesriem for lunch to escape the heat of the afternoon. As the day cools off in the late afternoon we will take a short excursion to the Sesriem Canyon.
Day 3
Agama - Windhoek (450km) (B,L) (Lodge)
After breakfast we begin our journey, over the mountains and along scenic roads, back to Windhoek. We will travel back by different roads this time. On the way to Windhoek we will be travelling by way of the Naukluft Mountain Range and then through the Auas Mountain Range on our way back to civilization
.
We are due back into the city around 15:00 and you will be dropped off at your accommodation on our return.
